Fast-Track Your Electrical Qualifications with the Experienced Worker Route

Have you been working as a practicing electrician for 5 years or more but don’t yet hold the qualifications needed to join schemes like NICEIC, NAPIT, or the ECS check system? Our Experienced Worker Route (EWR) is designed specifically for skilled electricians like you, helping you gain the recognised qualifications to unlock new opportunities.

The EWR demonstrates your technical knowledge, competence, and performance to meet Level 3 standards in the electrical industry. You’ll be assessed on your real-world skills and job knowledge, with evidence gathered from your workplace to prove you meet the performance criteria for each qualification unit.

Please note that we offer two types of Experienced Worker Assessments (EWA):

  • Installation/Maintenance Electrician EWA (C&G 2346-03)
  • Domestic Electrician EWA (C&G 2347-03)

These assessments are designed to recognise the skills and experience of practicing electricians and provide a pathway to formal qualifications.

The assessment is primarily site-based and usually does not require attendance at Tungsten Training Centre. Communication with your assessor will be conducted via email, telephone, although we offer face to face meetings to provide support throughout the process.

The units covered in this assessment include:

  • Application of health, safety, and environmental considerations
  • Organising the work environment
  • Application of design and installation practices
  • Termination and connection of conductors
  • Inspection and testing
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification
  • 18th Edition BS7671 (if required)
  • 2391-52 Inspection and Testing (if required)

This structure ensures candidates are assessed in real-world scenarios while maintaining flexibility and support from qualified assessors.

Evidence for the Electrical NVQ is collected through a variety of methods, including:

·        Job reports

·        Reflective accounts

·        Photographic evidence

·        Risk assessments and method statements

·        Other criteria commonly used in day-to-day electrical work

This hands-on, supported approach ensures you gain the skills, confidence, and recognised qualification to excel as a professional electrician.

After completing the Experienced Worker Assessment, you will need to undertake the AM2E at an independent NET centre. Successfully passing the AM2E marks the completion of your Experienced Worker Assessment process.

Please note: The AM2E is not included as part of this qualification and is not covered in the course fee. For more information, please visit the NET website NET
