The BPEC-accredited Managed Learning Programme trains candidates for 266 hours (35 weeks) at the Gas Training Centre and requires 675 hours of work-based experience evidenced by the candidate.


Gas Foundation Managed Learning Programme
Our Gas Foundation Managed Learning Managed Learning programme (Gas Foundation Course) is for candidates who are looking to start a career in the Gas industry and wish to register on the Gas Safe Register.
The Gas Foundation Managed Learning programme will provide you with the foundation knowledge for starting your career journey in the Gas Industry. The course covers domestic gas work and will embed the core domestic gas requirements by delivering theory and practical training. The Gas Foundation Managed Learning programme is for those who require obtaining a recognised qualification and may already be working in mechanical services or plumbing.
The Gas Foundation Managed Learning programme covers a comprehensive delivery of core theory and practical Gas training, and domestic gas central heating boilers and water heaters (CENWAT) other appliances can be added to your training as a module.
The delivery of the Gas Foundation Managed Learning programme is blended and delivered 1 day a week for 40 weeks (266 hours).
Candidates will also be required to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills, this is evidenced by building a portfolio whilst working alongside a gas registered engineer to obtain industry experience and meeting the elements of the technical specification of the portfolio, this is completed over a minimum of 18 weeks (based on 37.5 hours per week) in total 675 hours.
Our team will support you with a breakdown of the requirements for the Gas Foundation Managed Learning programme and the portfolio evidence you will be required to complete. We offer portfolio days where you can liaise directly with your Gas team representative and IV to ensure your evidence meets the requirements to ensure you feel supported throughout your programme journey.
Throughout your Gas Foundation Managed Learning programme, there are 7 assessments which are a variety of written and practical. Our team can support you with any exam requirements and adjustments you may have (evidence may be required)
This Gas Foundation Managed Learning programme course is BPEC certificated which is issued on completion of you meeting the training hours requirements, portfolio, successful recommendation and passing the awarding bodies quality requirements.
We offer this course as face-to-face learning at our centre near Brighton to ensure you obtain the most direct training and support from our delivery team and plenty of opportunity to have technical discussions and ask questions throughout the course.
The gas books are provided to candidates for their course.
On completion of the Gas Foundation Managed Learning programme course and when you have received your certificate you can apply to sit your ACS assessments, this is a separate training and assessment to the Gas Foundation Managed Learning programme course and can be booked online by selecting a course date which is most suitable for you or alternatively, our friendly sales and admin team can support your enquiry by calling 01273 934278.
